PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland's Folk Festival will bring more than 20 local and regional folk/Americana musicians to the stage at McMenamins Crystal Ballroom this weekend, from Jan. 12-14. The three-day lineup includes many talented musicians from the area, including Thunderstorm Artis.
Artis was a finalist on the 18th season of NBC's The Voice, where he wowed judges with his rendition of The Beatles' "Blackbird." He’s from Oahu, Hawaii and moved to Tennessee to continue pursuing his music career. During his time on The Voice, Artis said he lived in Portland and spent a lot of time with family in the city, and said "it always feels like coming back home."
On Friday night, Artis will headline the kickoff to Portland's Folk Festival. Other artists performing at the festival include Rainbow Girls, ALO, Shook Twins, Christopher Worth and more. You can find the full lineup at portlandsfolkfestival.com/2024-lineup.
Portland's Folk Festival began in 2018 as a way to celebrate the rich local folk music scene. This year, the festival is collecting donations of gently used and new warm winter clothing and supplies, especially gloves, socks and packaged handwarmers.
