Body found in Willamette River by passerby; Multnomah County authorities investigating

A passerby reported seeing the body around 7:35 p.m. in the river near the East Bank Esplanade, south of the Burnside Bridge.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Police are investigating after a body was found in the Willamette River Tuesday evening, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MSCO). 

A passerby reported seeing the body around 7:35 p.m. in the river near the East Bank Esplanade, just south of the Burnside Bridge. Portland Fire and MSCO responded, then recovered the body around 8:15 p.m. 

The Multnomah County medical examiner has custody of the body and will determine the identity and cause of death, MSCO said.
